Buckling and Instability. Introduction to Fluid Mechanics. Reflects recent developments in fracture mechanics and computer analysis. PillPack Pharmacy Simplified. Stress, Principal Stresses, Strain Energy. Over all, a very good seller and I would consider recommend this seller to my colleges. Includes a chapter on collapse analysis of beams and frames.

If You're a Student Buy this product Additional order info. NEW - Reflects recent developments in fracture mechanics and computer analysis. NEW - Adds a review chapter.

NEW - Updates references. Treats topics by going a step or two beyond elementary mechanics of materials and emphasizes the physical view — mathematical complexity is not used where it is not needed. Features a simple, unambiguous writing style — with complete yet not verbose explanations, well-referenced formulas, and concepts grounded in practical situations where possible. Provides 75 clearly-labeled, worked example problems, as well as many additional examples, shorter explanations, and calculations.

Uses notation commonly found in advanced texts and papers about the subject addressed.

Includes an abundance of homework exercises total , varied in type and difficulty — many multi-part. Includes a chapter on collapse analysis of beams and frames. Covers plastic conditions in torsion, thick-walled cylinders, and plates in bending.

Discusses the variety and frequent subtlety of buckling problems to show that buckling may be local or global and that buckling may or may not indicate collapse.

Uses superposition methods to treat discontinuity problems in shells of revolution, such as stresses where an end cap is joined to a cylindrical pressure vessel.

If you've just had your undergraduate level course and you're taking a second level or advanced course soon enough that you'll remember the basics this book will work. If you're like me or some of my fellow classmates, you'll have not had your basic course in at least 3 years. If that's the case, get used to using Google to find explanations. This book has two, maybe three, examples per chapter; difficult problems; little to no explanation of concepts; and no answers in the back to check if your work is even correct.

It also has no solution manual that I've been able to find. This book is also made extremely cheap.

I bought the paperback version and have had paperbacks before, but I'm a month and a half into my class and the book is starting to break along the binding glue cracking. I would suggest either making it into a spiral-bound book yourself or finding a business that will do it for you before you lose pages. Overall, if you have to have it for a class, I hope you have a good professor because this is not a self-study book that stands up to a lot of page flipping.

One person found this helpful. Covers a lot of material and is Decent book. Covers a lot of material and is well written. Doesn't go into much depth but covers a broad range of topics. They tend to skip large portions of derivations. On the other hand, there is a lot of good information from a design point of view. It has some less pages I had to print it from a soft copy of the book Throughout, topics are treated by extending concepts and procedures of elementary mechanics of materials, assisted when necessary by advanced methods such as theory of elasticity.
